Huntington High School seniors Hadley Clayton, Sara Frawley, Ryan Hoffmann and Noah Morris have been “commended” by the National Merit Scholarship Corp. They are among just 34,000 teenagers in the country to earn the distinction.
Over 1.6 million students from about 22,000 high schools entered the National Merit’s 2019 competition by taking the 2017 PSAT/National Merit scholarship qualifying test, which served as an initial screen of program entrants.
Ms. Clayton, Ms. Frawley and Messrs. Hoffmann and Morris and their fellow Commended Students are among the top 50,000 scorers.
“I am so proud of all of our commended students this year,” Huntington Principal Brenden Cusack said. “Each of them is a shining example of our best and brightest in Huntington. These students’ hard work, dedication and attention to their studies has paid off and I am looking forward to hearing about all of their future accomplishments as the school year progresses. Kudos to all.”
All four of the exceptional Huntington seniors have compiled remarkable academic records, excelling in a long list of honors and Advanced Placement classes. They have also been very active in a variety of extracurricular activities from clubs and service organizations to varsity athletic teams and fine and performing arts groups.
NMSC, a not-for-profit organization that operates without government assistance, was established in 1955 specifically to conduct the annual National Merit Scholarship Program.
