Junior Marissa Stafford has been named All-County after the teenager turned in a sensational season for the Huntington High School varsity girls’ soccer team.

Stafford led the Blue Devils in scoring and emerged as a major offensive threat who required careful marking by every opponent. She is fast and equally talented with both feet, displaying a knack for scoring from long range.

Freshman Teddi Carnesi and senior Paige Lennon both earned spots on the All-League. All three Huntington post-season honorees will be recognized at the Suffolk Girls’ Soccer Coaches Associations award dinner on November 19 at Villa Lombardi’s in Holbrook.

All three players tallied multiple goals and assists for the season. While Stafford was a scoring threat at all times, Carnesi and Lennon played important roles both offensively and defensively.

“I’m really going to miss this season so much because the whole team formed such a great bond and I can honestly call them all my family,” Stafford said. “We played with such heart and every practice and game was so fun and exciting. I think I improved as soccer player and made so many close friends this year that I am forever grateful for.”

In her final season with the Blue Devils, Lennon played well and rarely came off the field. “The season went great and I’m honored to get this award,” she said. “I couldn’t have asked for a better way for my last season to end.”

Carnesi has three more seasons of eligibility remaining and Huntington head coach John Walsh and assistant coach Vincent Tannazzo believe she is ready to become one of Suffolk’s best players.

“Right now I feel super excited, but I also can't wait to put more hard work into my training to get better,” Carnesi said. “This season was a great way to start my varsity soccer career. I bonded with the girls, made great relationships with the coaches and players and I got a taste of what a varsity environment is like.”
