Elian Pimentel is a hard-nosed competitor. When the Huntington High School senior steps on the baseball field for the Blue Devils he gives the team everything he has. Off the field he loves to laugh and have fun with his friends.
Mr. Pimentel pitches and plays infield for Huntington. Throughout high school the teenager has been one of the Blue Devils’ best players. He hopes to lead the team to the playoffs this spring.

The senior’s academic schedule includes Advanced Algebra, Career & Financial Management, Economics, Spanish V Honors, Virtual Enterprise and Film and Short Story.
Mr. Pimentel’s closest friends include Eren Aydin, Aidan Bender and Chris Segreti. All three are great athletes, too, which shouldn’t come as a surprise.
“Elian is a really funny and genuine person and I’m glad to call him one of my best friends,” Mr. Aydin said.
The teenager’s favorite faculty members are social studies teacher Gene Acevedo and math teacher Michael Graziano. Mr. Pimentel is an easygoing fellow around the high school, who gives his classes everything that he can.
Outside of school, Mr. Pimentel works part-time at Modell’s. This winter he is once again playing for the Blue Devil varsity basketball team.
Mr. Pimentel would like nothing more than to lead the Blue Devil baseball team to its first league championship since 1965. He is getting ready for the season and intends to do his part in helping Huntington reach every single one of its goals next spring.
Looking ahead to life after high school, Mr. Pimentel is considering several junior colleges in Florida, where he hopes to play baseball before transferring to an NCAA Division I school. “I’m looking at Florida colleges because of the weather,” he said. “I would be able to practice every day, which will help me improve my game. I’ve always pictured myself playing baseball at a big school like my brother. I will be a sports management major.”
The teenager’s competitiveness has been evident since his first day of kindergarten at Washington Primary School. He plays every game to win. His teammates and coaches value that quality in him.
“I love Huntington,” Mr. Pimentel said. “It’s where I’ve been my whole life and it’s made me who I am.”
