May 22, 2018

The Huntington girls’ lacrosse team bowed out of the Suffolk playoffs with a 12-5 loss at Smithtown East. The Blue Devils closed out the 2018 campaign with an 8-7 record.

Huntington trailed at halftime, 5-3. Smithtown East then went on a 7-2 second half run to put the game away.

Abby Maichin had two goals and an assist and Sarah Agrillo had a pair of goals to lead the Blue Devils. Emma Greenhill also scored in the game and Paige Lennon had two assists. Maya Santa-Maria stopped 17 shots in goal for Huntington.

The Blue Devils are coached by Kim Gilroy, Linda Costello-Roth and Beth Vogelsang.

Sarah Agrillo Wears Favorite’s Uniform Number

It wasn’t an accident or some random assignment that resulted in Huntington senior Sarah Agrillo donning uniform No. 23 for the Blue Devil varsity lacrosse team. The teenager wears it because it’s the number that NBA great Michael Jordan wore as an athlete and she has always admired the Hall of Famer.

Ms. Agrillo is pretty awesome in her own right. She missed her junior season after sustaining a serious knee injury that required surgery and a long recovery. But the teenager came back in fine fashion this spring, scoring 23 goals and adding 19 assists and helping lead the Blue Devils on the field and into the playoffs.

The Huntington senior is headed to Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, where she plans to play on the NCAA Division I lacrosse team.
