The Huntington High School girls’ lacrosse program is putting out a call to all of its former varsity players to return to their alma mater on Saturday, June 16 for an alumni game.

The Blue Devil girls’ lacrosse team was one of Suffolk’s first in the sport. Alumni game organizers are hoping several dozen past players answer the call and turnout for the Father’s Day weekend affair.

The game is expected to begin at about 11 a.m. It will be played prior to the Blue Devil boys’ alumni game on the turf field of Blue Devil Stadium. Details are still being finalized.

Interested in playing in the game? Send an email as soon as possible to Linda Costello-Roth at lroth@hufsd.edu to get on the list for updates and to receive final information. A party is being planned for after the game.

Last year’s alumni game was played in the rain. While everyone got soaked, they had a good time. Sunny skies are hoped for on June 16.

Huntington lacrosse alums have excelled on the college level, even playing on NCAA Division I championship teams and visiting the White House to be honored by the president after the national finals.

Blue Devil alums have played at many on many of the top college teams in the country over the years. Huntington grads are currently starring on several NCAA Division I teams, including Anna Tesoriero, who is the starting goalie for No. 1 ranked Stony Brook University and Taylor Moreno, who won the ACC Tournament’s MVP Award last Sunday after recording a record number of saves in goal to lead the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill over undefeated Boston College in the conference finals. Emma DeGennaro just closed out her sophomore year at Brown University with 32 goals and 18 assists.

Numerous other Huntington alums are also in the college ranks, including Notre Dame junior Samantha Lynch.

“We want all of our alumni players to come back on June 16,” Roth said.
