When it came time for choosing a college Casey DiGiacomo was decisive. The Huntington High School senior knew what he was looking for and found it at St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia.
“I really fell in love with the campus on my first visit and it only continued to grow with time,” Mr. DiGiacomo said. “I believe that besides the location being close to the city while maintaining a campus feel, the main reason I chose Saint Joe’s was its accredited business program. It offers a co-op program, which increases the chance of finding a job upon graduating.”

Secretary of Huntington High School’s Habitat for Humanity chapter, Mr. DiGiacomo has spent many hours volunteering with the club. He’s traveled with the group to New Orleans and will be going to Tennessee during the coming spring break to participate in a build there.
“Casey has been a good friend of mine since Woodhull School,” said Zach McGinniss, a fellow member of Huntington’s Class of 2018. “He’s loyal and passionate about what he believes in. His ability to network and make friends with people from all walks of life is something that I think will take him far. I’m certain he’s going to do great things.”
Mr. DiGiacomo has been on the Blue Devil varsity fencing team since seventh grade. He played on Huntington’s tennis team as a freshman and sophomore.
“I’ve known Casey since pre-school,” fellow senior Lars Drace said. “He has always been a great friend. We were on the fencing team for six years together. He will always help you out with anything. He’s reliable and he’s a really good sport.”
The teenager’s senior year academic schedule includes Advanced Placement Microeconomics, AP Macroeconomics, AP Government and Politics, AP Research, Calculus, Forensics and Band.
“My dream job would be a CFO (chief financial officer), but really anything having to do with investing and decision-making,” Mr. DiGiacomo said.
When he graduates in June, Mr. DiGiacomo will do so with the knowledge that he has left a mark at Huntington High School with teachers, coaches, club advisors and classmates.
“Casey has been a great friend of mine as we go way back to second grade,” fellow senior Xavier Edgar-McNerney said. “He is great guy who is definitely going to do well in life.”
As is the case with any high school student, Mr. DiGiacomo has his favorites among the faculty. “One teacher who really left an impact on me would probably be Mr. [David] Moriarty,” the senior said. “Helping me in both in and out of the classroom; helping me with the college process and always staying in touch.”
Mr. DiGiacomo comes from a thoroughly Huntington family. His father, Thomas is president of the Huntington School Board and his mother, Nancy has been a PTA leader for the past decade. His grandfather, Alfred graduated with Huntington’s Class of 1941.
“My overall experience at Huntington High School was amazing,” Mr. DiGiacomo said. “I will always remember the friendships and memories made, as well as the many teachers that left an impact on my life.”
