The Huntington High School boys’ lacrosse program kicked off the 2018 campaign on Sunday with a fundraising get together at Christopher’s Pub & Eatery in the village.
“There was a great turnout and plenty of lively conversation,” said parent Tim Pillion who helped organize the event along with John Hassett, Bill and Rosie Burton and Rob Meagher.
A crowd of about 50 included parents, alumni and coaches. About $3,500 was raised. “The lax club would like to thank Christopher’s and its terrific staff for hosting us. Thanks, too, to the many local merchants who donated items for our raffle baskets. We wish the Blue Devils great success with their upcoming lacrosse season.”
The season officially gets underway on Monday, March 5 with the first day of practice. The Blue Devils have scrimmages scheduled with Islip, Harborfields, Commack, Northport, Eastport-South Manor, Half Hollow Hills West and John H. Glenn.
Non-league games are scheduled with Kings Park and Comsewogue. Leagues contests are set with North Babylon, Smithtown East, Longwood, Copiague, Walt Whitman, West Islip, William Floyd, Smithtown West, Riverhead, Ward Melville, Brentwood, Connetquot, Lindenhurst and Half Hollow Hills East.
Huntington will feature returning players Patrick Durand, Sam Bergman, Gerard Federici, Cole Pillion, John Tucker, Luke Luckow, Mike Abbondandelo, Ryan Buxton, Jordan McCoy, Nat Amato, Jackson Pitti, JT Duffy, Chris Martin, Jack Stewart, Fred Amato, Ryan Gorecki, Colby Martin, Henry Cartwright, Jaylen Bush and Jon Koumas.
