Finley Winter II Sports Season Nears

The second Finley winter sports season will begin on January 22.

January 11, 2018

The second winter sports season is fast approaching at J. Taylor Finley Middle School. The first day of tryouts is set for Monday, January 22.

There are separate seventh and eighth grade girls’ basketball teams, boys’ volleyball and wrestling. In order to participate, students must have had a physical exam within the past year and been requalified by the Finley nurse. They must also submit a current health history form along with a signed parental permission form.

No student will be permitted to tryout unless they have been cleared by the nurse and turn in a permission form to the coach on the first day. There are no exceptions.

Phil Lowe will coach the seventh grade girls’ basketball team with Tim Madden coaching the eighth grade squad. Todd Donaghy is the coach of the boys’ volleyball team. Michael Marinello and Travis Smith will be the wrestling team’s coaches.

Tryouts will run from January 22-26. Girls’ basketball and wrestling will run from 3-5 p.m. Boys’ volleyball will go from 5-7 p.m.

An information packet with dates, times, health history and permission forms is posted on the district website at www.hufsd.edu. The packet is also available in the main office and from any of Finley’s physical education teachers.
