The Huntington School Board approved the 2018-19 district calendar.

January 9, 2018

The Huntington School Board has adopted a proposed district calendar for the 2018/19 school year. Trustees voted unanimously at their January 8 public meeting to approve the plan, which will have school begin on Wednesday, September 5 and finish on Wednesday, June 26, 2019.

Teachers and staff are required to their buildings for meetings on Tuesday, September 4, with students starting classes the following day. There will be 181 days of instruction with two other days set aside for faculty conferences. Two contingency days are also built into the plan to address possible school closings due to snow or other emergencies.

Schools will be closed on September 10-11 (Rosh Hashanah), September 19 (Yom Kippur), October 8 (Columbus Day), November 6 (Election Day/Supt. Conference Day), November 12 (Veterans Day), November 22-23 (Thanksgiving recess), December 24-January 1 (Winter recess), January 15 (Martin Luther King Day), February 18-22 (mid-Winter recess), April 19-26 (Spring recess) and May 27 (Memorial Day). There are no days off in March or June.

If there are no weather related closures, April 18 and May 24 will be converted to vacation days. If school is closed due to a weather emergency, classes will be held on May 24. If a second closure is required, classes will also be held on April 18.

A copy of the 2018/19 calendar is posted on the district’s website at www.hufsd.edu. Go to the Quick Clicks on the top right of homepage and go to General Interest on the dropdown menu and select District Directory/Calendar. Scroll down to School Calendars.
