Huntington High School’s mid-winter band concert showcased some of the most exceptional young musicians in the state. The junior and senior symphonic bands performed in the auditorium for an audience numbering in the hundreds.
“Both bands played a series a challenging pieces to perfection,” Huntington Superintendent James W. Polansky said. “Each anchored its performance with a composition accompanied by a video montage, produced by talented high school video students. The timing between music and video was impeccable! It was simply a great night for the Huntington High School band program.”
Directed by Brian Stellato, the junior band performed Whiplash, Joy Revisited and selections from Moana. Directed by Jason Giachetti, the senior band performed Sang!, Sleep and Star Wars: Episode V, The Empire Strikes Back.
Caitlyn Palermo, Jennifer Low, Andrew Knowles and Jose Suarez developed a video that ran during the junior band’s performance. Benjamin Ribando created a video that was shown during the senior band’s concert.
“This year’s mid-winter band concert was truly an outstanding experience,” said Eric Reynolds, district director of fine and performing arts. “The programming for both bands was imaginative, engaging to the students and enjoyable to the audience. Mr. Stellato and Mr. Giachetti have tremendous command on the podium and the students respond musically. Bravo to the band students and their teachers on a job very well done!”
