Some of Mr. Quinn’s favorite teachers are Jason Giachetti, Dame Forbes, Lynn Hendricks and Peter Crugnale.
A gifted trombone player, Mr. Quinn has been a valued member of the Blue Devil marching band as well as the jazz ensemble and the pit orchestra. “Matt Quinn is truly a gifted musician with a terrific sense of humor,” Mr. Giachetti said.
Some of Mr. Quinn’s other school related activities include being a member of Huntington’s Quiz Bowl and Mathletes teams and volunteering with Natural Helpers, assisting classmates with resolving personal issues.
“Matt Quinn is a hard working student who excels at whatever he puts his mind to do,” Mrs. Forbes said. “He is kind and polite. He is helpful and demonstrates focus that is unmatched.”
The teenager has done quite a bit of traveling over the years. “I’ve been to Europe a few times and I’ve been to Alaska,” Mr. Quinn said. “My favorite place that I’ve been to is Copenhagen in Denmark.”
The senior has compiled an enviable academic record worthy of acceptance to an Ivy League college. “Cornell is a beautiful school that offers an incredible amount of opportunities, which I can’t wait to take advantage of,” Mr. Quinn said. “I’m declared as a biological sciences major in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. I am strongly considering going for medical school after college.”
With six more months of high school remaining, the teenager is going about his business with typical enthusiasm for his classes and activities.
“I had a great 13 years in Huntington from kindergarten until now,” Mr. Quinn said. “If my life were to start over from the beginning, I’d definitely come back to Huntington.”
