The Huntington High School Highsteppers are ready to entertain Blue Devil fans and compete against regional and national competitive dance teams.

This year’s Highsteppers’ squad is coached by Jessica Harris, a local professional dance instructor who has assisted Paige Tyree for many years. Mrs. Tyree has stepped down as the team’s head coach and Ms. Harris has now assumed the reins of leadership.

The Highstepper roster includes freshmen Grace Colavecchio, Christina Drummings, Keira Francis Jillian LoTurco, Victoria Mangan, Ella Naima and Margo Nitekman; sophomores Hallie Armengau, Lainey Carney, Jordan Cook, Jailyn Fuentes, Alexa Rind, Kate Sheehan and Katelin Smith; juniors Livia D’Anna, Mia Redick and Bella Thompson; seniors Sophia LaCentra, Casey Smith and Kaitlyn Smith

Sophia LaCentra and Casey Smith are the Highsteppers’ senior captains with Mia Redick serving as the team’s junior captain.

“I am very proud of my team and their commitment to improving as well as their supporting fellow teammates,” Ms. LaCentra said. “I look forward to a great year ahead.”

The Highsteppers are expected to perform at halftime of various home varsity football and basketball games, including on Homecoming Day on Saturday, October 20. The team will perform for the entire student body, faculty and staff at the high school’s fall pep rally on Friday, October 19. The team will also march in the Homecoming Day parade and participate in several other high school events.

Ms. Harris is a choreographer and instructor at Platinum Performance Dance Academy. She has been working with the team on this year’s dance routine. The results have been impressive. The Huntington community and Blue Devil fans are in for a treat.
