Sebastian Stamatatos has a laser-like focus on his goals. Huntington High School’s Class of 2018 salutatorian is headed to Villanova University, where he plans to study finance and entrepreneurship in its renowned business school and lay the groundwork for a successful career.
Mr. Stamatatos has enjoyed a magnificent four year run through high school. He has compiled a long list of achievements, developed many close relationships with classmates and faculty members and explored every academic area, taking the most challenging courses Huntington offers. Now he’s ready for the next step in his life.
“The Villanova School of Business is one of the top business schools in the nation,” Mr. Stamatatos said. “It offers areas of study that align perfectly with my intended profession. I am very interested in entrepreneurship and finance. I will most likely major in finance and minor in entrepreneurship to build a solid foundation and understanding of the business world.”

Mr. Stamatatos commands the respect of the entire high school community. He’s an articulate, thoughtful and well-informed young man who can hold his own in any conversation. He’s a kind and compassionate soul, too.
“I hope to continue expanding the business that I founded in my junior year from a science research project,” Mr. Stamatatos said. “The knowledge attained at the Villanova School of Business will help to facilitate the business’ expansion and success. I’ve always had a niche for interaction in the workforce and will definitely attain advanced negotiation tactics while attending Villanova.”
The teenager is president of the high school’s stock analysis club and has also participated in the Key Club and mathletes. He’s the treasurer of Huntington’s Math Honor Society chapter and the tutoring coordinator of the Science Honor Society. Mr. Stamatatos is also a member of the National Honor Society and the English and Social Studies Honor Societies.
“I’ve always had a passion for baseball and trained as a left-handed pitcher with Rob Steinert throughout high school,” Mr. Stamatatos said. “I hope to continue playing baseball in college as well as maintaining participation in community service clubs.”
The teenager’s senior year academic schedule includes classes in Advanced Placement Chemistry, AP Macroeconomics, AP Microeconomics, AP English Literature and Composition, AP Calculus BC and the science research program.
“I will continue expanding my current business and hopefully acquire other companies throughout my journey as an entrepreneur,” Mr. Stamatatos said. “Majoring in finance will allow for attainment of skills in a multifaceted business world with forever changing atmospheres.”
The teenager has made good use of his high school years, dabbling in a little bit of everything and confirming his interests and what he wants to pursue as he moves on with his life.
“I have become very close with Mrs. [Lori] Kenny throughout high school,” Mr. Stamatatos said. “She always pushed me to create coherent research projects no matter what grade I was in. I’ve learned how to conduct thorough research with Mrs. Kenny’s guidance. Mr. [Kenneth] Donovan helped me to drastically improve my writing skills. Every time he assigned an essay, I would always read his comments and try to utilize his pointers in the next essay he assigned. He always took time out of his day to read over my National History Day papers and give his input on how to make my thesis stronger.”
As he enters his final weeks as a Huntington senior, Mr. Stamatatos has plenty to feel good about as he looks back over his time in the district, especially the past four years.
“I’ve enjoyed my time at Huntington High School and I will forever remember my experiences and friendships made along the way,” Mr. Stamatatos said. “Some of my notable memories include the various pep rallies and visiting the New York Stock Exchange with our stock analysis club faculty advisor, Ms. [Lynn] Hendricks. The education offered at Huntington allowed me to delve into areas of study that interest me. In turn, I was able to build a foundation of knowledge and experience that will be further built upon in the near future.”
