Emma Greenhill scored four goals to pace the Huntington girls’ lacrosse in a 15-1 victory over visiting William Floyd.
Isabella Piccola, Amber Stieve and Abby Maichin all scored twice in the game. Isabella Annunziata, Marissa Stafford, Ryann Gaffney and Emma Petrizzi also had goals in the game. Stieve added three assists. Annunziata and Alyssa Sorensen each assisted on a pair of goals.
Huntington goalies Megan Bacik and Maya Santa-Maria both had two saves in the game.
Garrett Moya Puts on Show
Garrett Moya put on a show against North Babylon. The Huntington senior tallied five goals and two assists to help the Blue Devils down the Bulldogs, 16-8.
Moya helped Huntington build a 7-0 first period lead. The Blue Devils extended the advantage to 10-0 by halftime.
Colby Martin had three goals and an assist for Huntington. Matt Mattiace added two goals and an assist and Jordan McCoy also scored twice. Matt Gelb had a big day with a goal and three assists. Austin Reda notched a goal and an assist and Ryan Gorecki also scored. Johnny Tucker, Freddie Amato and Luke Luckow all picked up assists.
Sam Bergman made seven stops in goal for the Blue Devils before yielding to backup Chris Martin, who recorded six saves.
49th Annual Senior Athletic Awards Dinner
The 49th annual Blue Devil senior athletic awards dinner is set for Wednesday, May 31 at 6 p.m. in Louis D. Giani Gymnasium at Huntington High School.
The event will honor all seniors who participated in the Blue Devil athletic program. The top seniors on each team will be presented with special awards. Several scholarships will also be presented along with Section XI Gold Keys.
Boys’ Track Flies Past Deer Park
The Huntington boys’ track and field team flew past host Deer Park earlier this week, 105-36. Kyree Johnson won the 200m dash in 21.9 seconds and Lawrence Leake finished first in the 110m high hurdles in 15.3 seconds to lead the Blue Devils.
Huntington’s Offense Explodes
The Huntington girls’ lacrosse team exploded for 20 goals against Brentwood, scoring 10 times in both halves of the game. Isabella Piccola scored four goals and assisted on another. Emma Greenhill had three goals and three assists and Emma Petrizzi added three goals and an assist.
The 20-6 victory saw 10 different Huntington players score goals. Ryann Gaffney tallied two goals and two assists. Isabella Annunziata and Paige Lennon also scored twice in the game. Sydney Van den Valentyn had a goal and an assist. Elizabeth Berejka, Abby Maichin and Megan McDevitt also scored goals.
Huntington’s goalies were also sensational as Maya Santa-Maria recorded six saves and Megan Bacik stopped a pair of shots.

Finley Wrestlers Compile 8-1 Mark
The J. Taylor Finley Middle School wrestling team compiled an 8-1 record this past season. Coached by Michael Marinello and Omar Santiago, the Falcons were captained by Jack Krisch, Joe Nicotra and Robbie Smith.
“This team was one point from having an undefeated season,” Marinello said. “We were missing two starters and fell just short against Elwood. The team really pulled for each other all season and it was one of the best Finley teams I have ever coached.”
Finley’s top wrestlers included Lucas Cirlincione, Chris Tittmann, Robbie Smith, Ethan Franciscovich, Nick Tudisco, Ethan Mcguinness, Jack Giamo, Justin D’Ambrisi, AJ Avarello, Joseph Petrone, Joe Nicotra and Jack Krisch.
Blue Devil Tennis Serves Aces
The Huntington boys’ tennis team glided past host William Floyd on Monday afternoon, 6-1. Reid Bellistri and Jason Verville were almost perfect in third doubles, winning in straight sets 6-0, 6-1 to pace the Blue Devils.
