Melissa Rosenberg is going places. The Huntington High School Class of 2013 member is headed to Los Angeles, where she will complete the final requirements for an Emerson College undergraduate degree.
The Huntington alum has been studying at Emerson in Boston for the past 3½ years, but she always intended to complete her studies in a unique way.
“I am headed to California in January to finish off my senior year at Emerson College’s LA campus,” Ms. Rosenberg said. “I’ve worked throughout school to have enough credits saved up to be able to have an internship this spring. I’ll only be taking one real class and working full time for Walt Disney Studios. Specifically, I’ll be working for Disney and ABC Home Entertainment and Television Distribution.”
Ms. Rosenberg will be working on the ABC’s pay TV and digital sales team. “This is such an accomplishment for me because I’m so absolutely intrigued by the change in the way consumers watch TV and movies,” she said. “The digital revolution has really changed something in this industry and I'm so excited to be a part of it. I’ve really transformed my passion to make movies when I was in high school to exploring the business side of it all in college.”

Ms. Rosenberg and Daniel Moya, a classmate and collaborator shared Huntington’s Outstanding Achievement in Video Arts Award as high school seniors. The duo’s 12-minute film, “Clowns Are People, Too,” was the grand finale at the 2013 Huntington High School Film Festival held at the Cinema Arts Centre.
The Emerson senior worked closely throughout high school with art teacher Heather Swan, who has developed Huntington’s nationally recognized video arts program.
“Although my interest in the entertainment industry has shifted from production to business, it was the Huntington High School program that got me interested in the first place,” Ms. Rosenberg said. “Without the core curriculum taught in the video program and without Mrs. Swan’s support and guidance, I wouldn’t have the structure for my life’s passion.”
Ms. Rosenberg participated in numerous festivals and contests while she was studying at Huntington High School and she won her fair share of awards and related honors. She graduated with the respect and affection of faculty members across every academic discipline.
“I was so fortunate to have been able to work with Melissa for all four years of high school while she was in the video program,” Mrs. Swan said. “Her infectious smile would always light up the room and her positive energy was contagious. I know how hard Melissa has worked for this opportunity and I couldn’t be more proud and excited for her. As Disney says, ‘When you wish upon a star, your dreams come true.’”
