Jefferson School Honors 60 Superb Youngsters
Valerie Capitulo-Saide was thrilled to honor 60 superb students during a recent assembly program in the gym. The Jefferson Primary School principal is always happy to recognize students who have earned it for demonstrating safe, responsible and respectful behavior in a very special way.
Jefferson honors several dozen students each month with Spot Awards. When a Jefferson student displays commendable behavior, teachers and staff members “spot” the youngster. An all-grades assembly is held each month to recognize the students who have been “spotted” the most.
Why a Spot Award? That’s an easy question to answer. The Jefferson School mascot is a jaguar, an animal known for its spotted appearance. Every Jefferson student is trying to get spotted so they can be an award winner, too.
Jefferson Spot Award honorees for December include:
Kindergarten: Edwin Andrade Ortez, Gian Karlos Bracero, Deisy Dominguez, Angelie Falcones, Justin Garcia Romero, Karen Lopez, Allison Ramirez-Cruz, Amy Velasquez Santos, Sindy Velasquez Mancia.
First grade: Brithany Carranza Rosales, Raquel Guadardo Flores, Jordyn Gross, Zachary Matthews, Jessica Melara, Alessandro Muralles Parra, Jose Quintanilla, Jason Quintanilla Villalobos, Christian Ramirez, Isaac Ramirez, Melanie Rodriguez, Netanya Shanzer.
Second grade: Genesis Araujo Amaya, Byron Araujo Yanes, Jemiah Curtis, Isabella Cruz, Kevin Domingquez, Kemberly Escamilla, Dariel Garcia, Jeremy Gross, Lyric Martin, Jeffrey Murillo, Natalia Rodriguez.
Third grade: Diana Diaz Mejia, Felicity George, George Garcia, Jack Hotine, Lily Hotine, Christopher Martinez, Taylor Nappi, Alexandra Manzanares-Hernandez, Marwan Muslim, Jose Reyes-Benitez, Marta Reyes Zamora.
Fourth grade: Peta Gay Grant, Julie Grimanelli, Jessica Oliva, Jennifer Lopez-Ded Cid, Isabella Mancia, Emily Nunez-Ulloa, Brayan Santos-Mendez.
The honorees were assembled for group photos while they were holding their Citizen of the Month certificates. All four dozen award winners also posed for a photo with Ms. Capitulo-Saide. It was clear they were a very happy bunch and quite proud, too.
