Huntington’s Tri-M Chapter Reaches into Community

These teenagers aren’t so wrapped up in their own affairs that they don’t have time for community members that might benefit from a little cheer. Huntington High School’s chapter of Tri-M, the national music honor society, recently visited residents of Carillon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center to spread some joy.

Tri-M faculty advisor Brian Stellato and music department colleague Nicole Castaldo accompanied 29 members of the organization to Carillon, which is located on the southeast corner of Park Avenue and Pulaski Road.

“The students performed various solo and small group pieces, including some instrumental and some vocal,” Mr. Stellato said. The Huntington musicians performed at Carillon for more than an hour and then trekked to Panera Bread in Huntington village for a group lunch.

The Tri-M members participating in the trip included Gabriella DeLuca, Jack Malone, Ann Glackin, Savannah Richardson, Olivia Stamatatos, Jordan Biener, Connor Grosso, Brianne Neira, Hanae Wada, Dylan DelGiudice, Billy Garfinkel, Maddie Shea, Jessica Straub, Allyson Arleo, Jack Gallagher, Julia Engle, Kevin McConnell, Justin Waite, Melany Lanham-Ciancia, Anjali Kapur, Hallie Raskin, Christiana Reinertsen, Sam Latt, Sophia Latt, Kathryn Dara, Jacob Labarge, Holly Grabowski, Annalise Mozer and Annie Trousdell.

“This is a trip that the Tri-M members look forward to each year,” Mr. Stellato said. “It means so much to the people at the Carillon Nursing Home and I’m so proud of our kids’ performances and service to their community. The Tri-M kids are working quite hard this year.”

Tri-M has been active this fall. It recently helped Huntington High School host the All-County music festival.
