Sensational Start for Heather Forster at Albany

Heather Forster has always been a “gamer” and University at Albany fans are quickly learning what makes the Huntington High School alum so special. The former Blue Devil great is off to sensational start to her college basketball career with the Great Danes.

One of Huntington’s greatest hardcourt players ever, Forster has rapidly adapted to the fast paced and physical college game. She is following in the footsteps of her sister, Julie, who starred for Albany from 2009-2013 and is the program’s all-time leader in rebounds and among the leaders in several other statistical categories.

Albany won its first four games of the current season, before falling to fourth ranked Tennessee (5-0) last week in Knoxville. Forster played her best game of the season, coming off the bench to post six points, four rebounds and an assist in 26 minutes. It was her longest appearance of the year to date.

Forster shined again this past Tuesday night in Albany’s (5-1) 71-58 victory over Big East rival Providence. The Huntington grad tallied a game high 11 rebounds in 22 minutes on the floor.

Forster played basketball, volleyball and lacrosse for the Blue Devils. She led the Huntington girls’ basketball team to back-to-back league titles. The teenager broke the 1,000 point scoring plateau and was a four-time All-League, two-time All-County and All Long Island and 2015 All-State player. She consistently notched “double-double” games as a junior and senior, dominating as one of the top rebounders and scorers in the state.

The 6’2 Forster wears No. 22 for Albany. She is planning to major in business. Her brother, Jack is a sophomore on the Albany football team. Her sister, Julie was a four-year letter winner and exceptional player for the University at Albany basketball team.

An exceptional student academically, Forster was inducted into seven honor societies at Huntington High School.
