Registration Continues for Booster Club Summer Camps
Registration is ongoing for the Huntington Booster Club’s summer camp program. The 26 separate camps are drawing interest from young people across the community. All camps (except tennis) are priced at $150. Anyone that registers for three or more camps will receive a $25 discount.
The camp brochure is posted on the Huntington School District’s website at www.hufsd.edu. To access the brochure click on the Athletics link and then on the Summer Programs tab on the left side of the screen.

“We strive to create a healthy, safe and competitive environment where our campers will work to improve individual and team skills, learn sportsmanship and self-confidence and appreciate the physical benefits of athletics,” according to the summer camp program brochure.
Huntington students are talking about the camp program and many are planning to attend with classmates. Physical education teachers say there seems to be genuine excitement as the school year nears its close and the summer camp program gets set to kickoff.
The camp line-up includes:
Boys Lacrosse -June 30-July 3- Open to all boys grades 1-9
$150 - 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. - Grades 1 – 5
$150 - 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. - Grades 6 – 9 (Advanced Clinic)
Directed by two-time state champion varsity head coach Paul McDermott; Grades 1-5 will focus on competitive drill work and game play. There will be an advanced clinic for grades 6-9, which will include competitive drills and scrimmages. Former star Huntington High School lacrosse players will assist throughout the camp.
Girls’ Lacrosse -June 30-July 3 -Open to all girls grades 1-12
$150 -9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. -Grades 1 – 5
$150 -9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.- Grades 6 – 12 (Advanced Clinic)
Directed by head varsity coach, Kathy Wright; Grades 1-6 will focus on fostering a love for the game by concentrating on skill improvement while at the same time having tons of fun! Grades 6-12 will feature a clinic focused on competitive drill work and game play.
Co-Ed Tennis -June 30-July 3 -Open to all boys and girls grades K-12
$125 -9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. -Grades K – 4
$125 -10:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. -Grades 5 – 12 (Advanced Clinic)
Directed by varsity coach Jamie Fishlow, the camp seeks to improve each player’s skill level while they have fun learning techniques taught by a winning coach!
Girls’ Basketball -July 7-10 Open to all girls grades 2-12
$150 -9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. -Grades 1 – 5
$150 -9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. -Grades 6 – 12 (Advanced Clinic)
Directed by varsity coach, Mike Kaplan and assistant coach, Marissa Bergmann; NCAA Division I athletes will be featured. The camp will help improve each player’s fundamentals and knowledge of basketball.
Co-Ed Track and Field- June 30-July 3 -Open to all boys and girls grades 4-12
$150 -5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. -Open to grades 4-12
Led by Huntington track coaches Shawn Anderson and Jennifer Fudens. Campers will participate in various running, jumping and throwing events. The conclusion of the camp will include time trials and a mock track meet.
Boys’ Soccer -July 7-10 -Open to all boys grades 1-12
$150 -9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.- Grades 1 – 5
$150 -9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. -Grades 6 – 12 (Advanced Clinic)
Directed by varsity coaches John Pagano and Jason Suarez who led the Blue Devils to the Suffolk Final Four last fall, the camp will focus on improving each camper’s skill level through competitive drills and fundamentals while having fun!
Boys’ Basketball -July 14-17 Open to all boys -grades 2-8

Directed by Huntington junior varsity coach Ed Lein, the camp will cultivate each player’s skill, knowledge and love for the game of basketball. Brian Carey, current Blue Devil head coach and founder of the highly successful “Brian Carey’s Shooting School” will teach each camper shooting techniques to improve their shot and skill level.
Girls’ Field Hockey -July 14-17 -Open to all girls grades 1-12
$150 -9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.- Grades 1 – 5
$150 -9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.- Grades 6 – 12 (Advanced Clinic)
Directed by varsity coach Kathy Wright, the camp will strive to improve each player’s skill level and knowledge of the concepts of field hockey while they enjoy every minute of this fun sport! The advanced clinic will feature competitive skill work and game play.
Highsteppers -July 21-24 -Open to all girls grades 1-6
$150 -9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Calling all girls who love to dance!!! The Highsteppers are a regional and national award-winning kick line/dance team. They have performed at Madison Square Garden for Knicks games as well as competitions at Disney World. All girls will learn various dances and kick line routines taught by Samantha Natalello the current head coach of the Highstepper team at Huntington High School. There will be a culminating performance at the end of camp.
Speed, Agility & Sport Prep Camp -July 21-August 1 -Open to all boys and girls grades 4-9
$150 -8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays
Led by Todd Jamison, former star athlete for Huntington, St. John’s University and the Philadelphia Eagles and the current strength coach for Huntington High School. He will teach each camper the proper strategies and techniques to improve their speed and agility.
Co-Ed Fencing -July 21-24 -Open to all boys and girls grades 4-9
$150 -5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Directed by one of the top fencing coaches on Long Island, Huntington varsity head coach Alan Kuver, who will teach the fundamentals and strategies of the sport. There will be two camp sessions. (See also August 18-21.)
Girls’ Softball -July 21-24 -Open to all girls grades 2-8
$150- 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Directed by Huntington junior varsity coach Jim Byrnes, the camp will teach the fundamentals that will improve each camper’s skill level and confidence in the great game of softball.
Boys’ Baseball -July 28-31 -Open to all boys grades 1-9
$150- 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.- Grades 1-4
$150- 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.- Grades 5-9 (Advanced Clinic)
This camp is brand new to our list of successful summer offerings. It will be directed by Huntington varsity head coach Keith Barrett, who will teacher and enhance each participant’s hitting and fielding in the great game of baseball.
Co-Ed Volleyball -July 28-31 -Open to boys and girls grades 5-12
$150- 9:00 to 12:00 p.m.
This co-ed camp is new to the summer camp program. It will be directed by Huntington girls’ volleyball head coach Natalee Schaefer and focus on creating a love for volleyball through fund drills and games.
Girls’ Soccer -August 4-7 -Open to all girls grades 1-12
$150- 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. -Grades 1 – 5
$150- 9:00 p.m. to 12:00 p.m. -Grades 6 – 12 (Advanced Clinic)
Directed by varsity head coach John Walsh and assistant coach Vincent Tannazzo, each camper will improve their current skill level. The camp will focus on competitive drills and fundamentals while having loads of fun!
Boys’ All Sports and Classic Gym Games -August 4-7 -Open to all boys grades 2-6
$150- 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
This exciting camp will feature organized and classic gym games directed by physical education teacher and Blue Devil coach Travis Smith. Campers will participate in great games such as floor hockey, team handball, basketball, flag football and many other organized games kids love to play!
Co-Ed Fencing- August 18-21 -Open to all boys and girls grades 4-9
$150- 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. (2nd session)
Directed by one of the most well regarded fencing coaches on Long Island, Huntington varsity coach Alan Kuver, who will teach the fundamentals and strategies of the sport. There will be two camp sessions. (See also July 21-24.)
