Allyson Arleo Sparkles at Finley

Allyson Arleo is a happy J. Taylor Finley Middle School eighth grader. She earns top grades, plays basketball and lacrosse and sings in the chorus. She's a talented young lady.

The teenager has been on Finley's honor roll for the past six marking periods. Ms. Arleo is a serious student and is well-liked by her teachers and popular with her classmates.

This winter, Ms. Arleo has advanced through the local and district levels of the Knights of Columbus foul shooting competition. In the last round, she hit 22-of-25 shots to advance to the regional round of the contest. Should she win there, Ms. Arleo will qualify for the state finals at West Point.

A graduate of the district's dual language program, Ms. Arleo works hard in the classroom and plays to win when she puts on an athletic uniform. She has captained her basketball and lacrosse teams and is currently playing on the Falcons' hard court squad coached by Phil Lowe.

Ms. Arleo's talents are not just limited to academics and athletics. She's also a great vocalist and has been selected for the All County chorus in each of the past five years. The eighth grader is already looking forward to joining her brother Nick at Huntington High School next fall. A second brother, Garrett Arleo graduated with Huntington's Class of 2012 last June and is now studying in the University of Hartford's honors program.
