Woodhull's Caroline Tonks Advances to State Competition
A group of Woodhull Intermediate School students put their creativity and talents on display in this year's PTA Reflections competition, a national arts recognition program that attracts tens of thousands of entries across the country.
The Woodhull students submitted creative works conforming to the national theme, "Together We Can." Categories include literature, music composition, film production, dance choreography, photography and the visual arts.
Huntington High School's art honor society judged the Woodhull competition. All students submitting work were presented with a Certificate of Recognition by Woodhull Principal Mary Stokkers during a recent award ceremony.
Woodhull sixth grader Caroline Tonks earned a coveted Award of Excellence for her dance choreography submission. She was recently honored at the Suffolk PTA Reflections ceremony held at Northport High School. Ms. Tonks' mother accepted an award on her behalf since the youngster was unable to attend since she was performing the lead role in "The Nutcracker" on the Huntington High School stage that day.
Woodhull students Quinn Blackburn, Christopher Piazza, Kyle Chin, Alize Lerner, William Hebert, Caroline Tonks, Logan Rice, Jacob LaBarge, Hannah Olsen, Cloe Stevens, Alexa Cassar and Emma Pipolo also participated in this year's PTA Reflections program.
State level results will be announced in March and Woodhull PTA members are keeping their fingers crossed that Ms. Tonks will advance to the national level.
