Dante Allen Signs with
Stony Brook Football

Dante Allen is going places, but he'll be studying and attending college just a stone's throw from Huntington High School. The senior has signed an NCAA Division I letter of intent and accepted a scholarship to play football at Stony Brook University.

The 6'5, 240 lb. lineman is one of the best players in Suffolk. He recorded 10 quarterback sacks and more than 40 tackles last fall for the Blue Devil football machine. He earned All-County honors and played in the Suffolk PAL All-Star Game.

"Dante is a just a great kid," said Steve Muller, Huntington's longtime head football coach. "He gets along well with everyone. He's got a great personality and is a gamer. He gets a lot done out on the field. He's a leader. His teammates respect him."

Allen is going to Stony Brook with an open mind academically. "He'll initially concentrate on his core courses and see what interests him before committing to a major," said Todd Jamison, who on the Huntington football staff. Jamison and his wife, Lisa and son Clayton, have welcomed Allen into their home as a part of their family.

Stony Brook plans to use Allen on the Seawolves' defensive line, but if he gets bigger and gain more muscle mass there is the possibility of him moving over to offensive tackle. "The sky is the limit for Dante," Muller said. "This could be the start of something very special for him."

Allen has above-average speed and is very agile. He's a hard-hitter and pursues quarterbacks and running backs with a vengeance. "He's really determined on the field,"
Muller said.

"He'll have plenty of academic support, which is important," Jamison said. "He's going to Stony Brook, first and foremost, to get a degree. Football is the icing on the cake."
