Julie Forster Sparkles at Albany
Julie Forster walked onto the University at Albany basketball team two years ago and quickly established herself as a force to be reckoned with. The 2009 Huntington High School grad enjoyed a sensational freshman campaign. Her sophomore year was even better.
Forster earned third team all-conference honors and was voted onto the America East Conference's all-defensive team. She also captured two Albany team awards, including being named the Great Danes' "Beast of the Boards" for her stellar rebounding and the "Dane of Honor" as the top player academically.
The former Huntington star was ranked as high as 15th nationally in NCAA Division I in rebounding with 9.8 per game. Forster was third in the league with a 47.0 shooting percentage.
Forster was a unanimous selected to the America East all-academic team and was the only sophomore player picked for the Capital One University Division Academic All-America Division I team after posting a 3.96 grade point average. She is majoring in business administration.
At Huntington, Forster played on four different varsity teams. She made her most impressive mark in basketball, where she scored more than 1,000 points. She helped lead the Blue Devils to three straight appearances in the Suffolk finals and the 2008 county crown. A five-time varsity basketball letter winner, she won All-County and All-State honors twice as a player.
