Huntington Grad in Cast of “The Doctors”
Tune to Dr. Phil’s new television show, “The Doctors,” and you just might catch a glimpse of Huntington High School grad Jennifer Hoffman, who has a role in the show as a style expert.
“The Doctors” debuted on Sept. 8. In New York, the Paramount show is carried by WCBS TV-2 and airs weekdays at 9 a.m. “I’m not sure when my episodes air,” Ms. Hoffman said about the show. “It was a lot of fun taping my segments for ‘The Doctors’ and I can’t wait to see them.”
Ms. Hoffman has appeared in numerous television shows, including the 2007 edition of Donald Trump’s “The Apprentice” along with theatre productions and even a pair of movies. She’s worked as a TV and radio host and reporter, too.
After graduating from Huntington in 1996, Ms. Hoffman, who is known as Jenn, earned an undergraduate degree in Communications and Sociology from Arizona State University in 2001 and an MBA in Marketing from the University of Phoenix in 2004. She attended a special English literature study abroad program in 2001 at prestigious Cambridge University in England.
Ms. Hoffman lives in downtown Phoenix in an urban loft and commutes to Los Angeles for her television shows. She is also the Founder of Get Some Media, a PR and Production company specializing in creating television and web content. She has also worked for a number of television stations and co-published a popular lifestyle magazine, among many other professional pursuits.
She also serves as CEO of J. Brand Group, a consulting firm. According to Ms. Hoffman’s website, she “directs strategic campaigns for clients, specializing in taking growing businesses and turning them into multi-million dollar corporations.” She has also worked for a number of television stations and co-published a popular lifestyle magazine, among many other professional pursuits.
During her years at Huntington High School, Ms. Hoffman, who was quoted last spring in a Reuters article on the increasing prevalence of alternative work arrangements, was extremely active as a three-year member of the cheerleading squad, four-year reporter for The Dispatch student newspaper, writing tutor and member of the Bring Unity to Youth (BUTY) club. She was also a peer educator and in the drama club.
She participated in Play Fest at Huntington High School and was in the cast of the drama club musical How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying, directed by teacher-club advisor James Incorvia.
After graduating from Arizona State, Ms. Hoffman backpacked through Europe before returning to the U.S. to study for an MBA. She enjoys running, aerobics, hiking, singing, acting and traveling.
“My favorite memories from Huntington High School are of being a cheerleader and being in Play Fest,” Ms. Hoffman said. “I also really liked being an English tutor in the Student Writing Center and writing for The Dispatch. Mr. [Mickey] Baron was my favorite teacher ever.”
Ms. Hoffman skipped second grade at Washington Elementary School and graduated high school when she was just 16 years old. Her age was a well-kept “secret” as many of classmates and even teachers had no idea how young she was at the time.
In Huntington, Ms. Hoffman tested in the top 99 percent of all American students in standardized reading, verbal skills and logic tests. Following her college graduation, she worked as an English teacher and cheerleading coach in Arizona for two years.
Her parents, John and Christine Hoffman, live next door to Washington Primary School and her sister Cyndie was a member of Huntington’s Class of 2000 and went on to graduate in 2004 from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. She now resides in San Francisco.
Ms. Hoffman was back in Huntington over the summer for a two-week visit with family and friends. Two years ago she returned to town for the ten-year reunion of the Class of 1996 and is looking forward to the group’s 20-year get-together in 2016.
