Huntington Alumni News


Tia Schlaikjer has soared since her June 1994 Huntington High School graduation. She went on to earn an undergraduate degree in education at Catholic University of America in Washington, DC where she was also elected the student body president. Following her college graduation she served in the Peace Corps from 1999-2001 and also hiked the entire Appalachian Trail, covering more than 2,000 miles.

 

In July 2003 she married Brad Herring. Together they have a daughter, Maya, who was born May 28, 2007. The family resides in Raleigh, North Carolina.

 

Mrs. Herring earned a Master of Arts degree in parks, recreation and tourism management at North Carolina State University in 2006. Today she works as the Museum Park Manager at the North Carolina Museum of Art.



Colleen Fitzpatrick, a member of Huntington High School’s Class of 1982, is married and the mother of three daughters. She resides in Easton, Pennsylvania and works as an accountant.

 

Now known as Colleen Semanek, the Huntington alum earned a Bachelor of Science degree at Alfred University. At Huntington, she participated in the orchestra, choir, fencing, mathletes, GO (student council) and played in the pit orchestra at drama club productions. What’s her favorite high school memory? “Spending time with friends,” she said on an alumni website.



 

Derek McCord is one of the greatest athletes in Huntington High School history. The 1988 graduate was an All-Long Island football player and earned All-County honors in basketball and baseball. He went on to play pro football in Europe after a nice career at Rutgers University.

 

Today, Mr. McCord, who is widely known as Dex, works in medical sales for Boston Scientific and resides in Mt. Laurel, New Jersey with his wife Stacey, sons Colton and Kyle and daughter Courtney. He obtained his undergraduate degree in communications at Rutgers and is focused on being “the best father and husband to my family.”



 

Timothy McCue, a member of Huntington High School’s Class of 1992, is a firefighter for the City of New Bern in North Carolina.



 

Kathy Siegrist graduated Huntington High School in 1967. She went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree at Cornell University and a Master’s degree at the University of Maryland. Today she is known as Kathy McCullough and is the senior vice president for patient care services at the University of Maryland Medical Center. She resides in Ellicott City with her husband Charles. Together they have three children: Christopher, Alexandra and Pippa.



 

Joseph McCusker graduated Huntington High School with the Class of 1987. He earned a BA degree at the University of Notre Dame and an MBA at Cornell University. Today he works as an analyst with Claren Road Asset Management in Manhattan. Together with his wife Frances, Mr. McCusker is the father of two sons, Michael and William.
