Eric Posner Establishes Himself at Harvard

Eric PosnerHarvard now sees why Huntington considers Eric Posner to be one of the best Blue Devil lacrosse players the program has seen in recent years.  The talented long-stick midfielder has become indispensable to the Crimson with an impressive sophomore season under his proverbial belt.

Posner graduated from Huntington High School in 2005.  A member of the Math and National Honor societies, he earned four varsity letters with the Blue Devil lacrosse team and also lettered in basketball and golf.  A member of the Key Club, a class treasurer and a peer educator, the 5’10, 170 lb. Posner earned the Suffolk County championship game MVP Award as a senior and was a three-time All-County player.

This spring he started 10-of-12 Harvard games, coming up with 44 ground balls, causing 20 turnovers and scoring goals in two of the last three games.  He reached a career high of seven ground balls against both Holy Cross and Brown.  He was first among all Crimson players in caused turnovers and a second in ground balls.  As a freshman, Posner played in 13 games, starting seven.  He picked up 19 ground balls.

Huntington coach Paul McDermott remembers how “Eric missed nine pre-season games and came off a bad hamstring pull to lead us to a state championship.  He was a captain and always played when he was hurt.  He also excelled in the classroom with a GPA of 100.”

Brandon LogigianBrandon Logigian finished up his Harvard playing career this spring, appearing in five games for the Crimson and getting off two shots.  Probably the biggest moment of the Huntington Class of 2003 member’s college athletic experience came as a junior when he scored against Syracuse in an NCAA tournament game.

Logigian, 6’1, 190 lbs, appeared in 20 games for Harvard during his four years on campus.  He majored in government.

As a Blue Devil senior, Logigian was an All-American.  “Brandon was a captain,” McDermott recalled.  “He was a team player and was our go to guy.  He could shoot left or right and had a dodge that could not be beat.  He also earned All-Division, All-County and All-Long Island honors, was on the Empire State Games team and won a Scholar Athlete Award.  He was Huntington’s offensive MVP.
