All Huntington School District Schools in Good Standing
The New York State Education Department has notified Huntington School District officials that all eight individual schools are in “good standing” based upon an assortment of criteria related to accountability designations.
“A school is considered to be in good standing if it has not been identified as a ‘school requiring academic progress at any level,” according to the SED website.
Huntington has been on a sustained drive to improve academic performance in every discipline across all grade levels. The district has numerous programs in place to meet the needs of students who need additional support to meet proficiency targets.
There are early morning and after-school initiatives along with weekend and summer programs. The district has secured grant funds to underwrite the cost of many of the initiatives.
While Huntington High School routinely sends its graduates to the many of the top colleges and universities in the country, district officials said there is always more work to be done.
“Huntington is home to hard-working students, dedicated faculty and staff members and an array of academic opportunities for all students,” Superintendent James W. Polansky said. “The designations simply confirm what we already know, but it nice to see that the work done in Huntington is acknowledged at the state level as well.”
