50th Reunion

Huntington High School’s Class of 1965 is planning a 50th reunion weekend next fall. The get-together is set for Friday-Sunday, October 2-4.

The reunion will kick-off on Friday, October 2 at 7 p.m. at Finnegan’s Restaurant & Tap Room in Huntington Village. The evening will include a visit to The Rock at Huntington High School for a painting session.

Saturday, October 3 will feature several events, including a tour through the district’s School Heritage Museum at Huntington High School from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., a varsity football game between the Blue Devils and West Islip at 2 p.m. and a party at the Bay Club with dinner and dancing from 6 p.m. to midnight.

The reunion will wrap-up on Sunday, October 4 at 10 a.m. with bagels on the beach at Bay Hills.

Huntington’s Class of 1965 walked off into history at the high school’s 104th annual commencement exercises on Sunday, June 27, 1965 at 3:15 p.m. in the school auditorium. The class totaled about 520 graduates.

The seniors were led by valedictorian Katherine Kurshan and salutatorian Ellin Kaufman. Senior Walter R. Snow was the commencement’s honor speaker. Music teacher Rufus Kern was the conductor of the high school band that performed at the commencement. Principal Robert A. Cushman introduced the speakers. Superintendent Charles T. St. Clair presented the members of the class to the audience. Huntington School Board member William G. Lister presented diplomas to the seniors.
