A Tradition of Excellence since 1657

Smiles at Washington Primary School

In this age of heightened academic demands on students, the Washington Primary School community does its best to still maintain a fun atmosphere around the school.

The Washington Ways student recognition program serves many purposes. Students strive to do their best each day and are excited when their efforts are noticed. Even when they do not win a monthly award, the youngsters are happy to congratulate a classmate whose name is announced over the public address system.

February’s honorees included Dakota Respass, Genesis Escobar-Nicolas, Sierra Wilson, Jessica Ramirez, Wynne Franciscovich, Olivia Rosario, Brian Arreaga-Vega, Chase Northrop, Daniel Flores, James Nottingham, Janelee Gomez, Kimberly Bermudez, Jose Cabrera-Zelaya, Andrew Castillo, Neurdia Osias, Emma Hannigan, Karen Ulloa, Cristian Garay-Dominquez, Carolos Figueroa and Maria Zuniga-Mejia.

The classes of teachers Michelle Monte and Jennifer Stucchio were also recognized with special awards for their overall devotion to excellence.

“It is absolutely delightful to honor these outstanding boy and girls for the fine work they have been doing in their classes and throughout Washington School each day,” Principal Marsha Neville said.

The Washington Ways student recognition program utilizes three different colors of tickets, which are a hot commodity around the school. Red tickets are presented to individuals for notable good behavior outside of classrooms, including hallways, buses, the playground and cafeteria, etc. At the end of the month, the student in each class with the greatest number of red tickets is recognized with a special certificate.

Entire classes can earn blue tickets for positive group behavior out-of-the-classroom. Blue tickets are also awarded to the two classes within the building with the most tickets overall. Students enjoy being cited and collecting the colorful tickets.

White tickets are awarded weekly for good behaviors and actions in the classroom. White ticket winners are honored with special recognition in their classroom at the end of each week and their names are announced every Monday morning.
