Bestselling Author to Visit Huntington
Bestselling author Jodi Picoult will return to the Huntington High School auditorium on Saturday, March 2 at 7 p.m. to discuss and sign copies of her latest book, The Storyteller. Tickets are on sale now at Book Revue or by calling 271-1442.
Book Revue is presenting the event in partnership with the Huntington PTA Council Arts-in-Education Committee. Tickets are priced at $28 plus tax and include entry to the book discussion and a copy of Ms. Picoult's new book. $5 tickets are also available for those who want to attend the book discussion, but don't want to purchase a new book.
The PTA-AIE committee is also selling specially priced $5 tickets. They are available to district students and staff members and entitle the bearer to sit in the auditorium during the event. They do not include a copy of the book itself. The $5 tickets are available in the music office at the high school. Call 673-2106 for more information.
"Those wishing to purchase a book need to do so through Book Revue if they want Ms. Picoult to sign it for them on March 2," said Joan R. Fretz, district director of fine and performing arts for the Huntington School District. "Anyone who purchases a $5 student or staff ticket from the music office can also buy the new book at the event, if they wish, along with other previous novels written by Jodi. However, she only signs the new book, purchased through Book Revue, at this event."
Ms. Picoult will speak for about 30 minutes concerning the research she engaged in when writing the book. The Storyteller is about a baker who befriends an elderly man who confesses a shameful secret to her. He was a Nazi SS Guard. The baker's grandmother was a Holocaust survivor. He asked her for an extraordinary favor. "If she says yes, she faces not only moral repercussions, but potentially legal ones as well," according to the book.

According to the San Antonio Express-News, "Nothing is ever all said and done in a Picoult novel. One can imagine the ripples of these characters' lives echoing on and on, even after the last page has been turned. Odds are you'll wish you hadn't turned it."
The Dallas Morning News said "Ms. Picoult has carved her own niche with her novels – one part romance, one part courtroom thriller, two parts social commentary."
The timing of a person's ticket purchase determines their spot in the book signing line. The earlier a person buys a ticket, the earlier Ms. Picoult will sign their book on March 2.
A member of her profession's elite circle, Ms. Picoult's work has reached No. 1 on The New York Times' best-selling list. Her writing has received rave reviews. Financial Times said "It's hard to exaggerate how well Picoult writes." Stephen King, himself a best-selling author said "Picoult writes with unassuming brilliance." Entertainment Weekly said "Picoult is a rare writer who delivers book after book, a winning combination of the literary and the commercial."
Book Revue is located at 313 New York Avenue in Huntington village.
