Huntington High School's Mission

Huntington High School's mission is crystal clear: Students and adults at Huntington High School work together to create an environment based on responsibility, respect and safety. In a climate of high expectations and academic richness, students are afforded a greater opportunity to develop talents and reach their full potentials. The faculty and administration work collaboratively to involve all students in rigorous, standards based tasks that prepare them to successfully meet chosen career expectations as well as the challenges at competitive colleges and universities.

Tour of Facilities

Huntington School Board members Emily Rogan, John P. Paci III, Jennifer Hebert, Adam Spector and Tom DiGiacomo toured district schools last week with Superintendent James W. Polansky, Assistant Superintendent Sam Gergis and Director of Facilities Alvin White.

The group inspected conditions in the buildings, reviewed summer repairs and cleaning projects and met with principals along the way.

The Flower Hill School PTA will be led by co-Presidents Lauren Meagher and Michele Kustera. The executive board also includes Erin Sclafani (vice president), Amy Girimonti (vice president), Steve Fox (treasurer), Amy Fives (corresponding secretary), Krista McDonald (recording secretary) and historians Shaki Coulter and Deborah Chin.

Patricia Dillon is entering her third year as the Huntington High School librarian after spending the previous two decades in the district on the elementary level. Prior to coming to the district she worked as the Herricks High School librarian for eight years at the beginning of her long career.

Mrs. Dillon said one of her favorite things about working as a high school librarian is meeting up with students she encountered during her years at Huntington Intermediate/Jack Abrams School. She finds it interesting to see their personal and academic development.
