Josh Canales scored the Huntington boys' soccer team's only goal of the game, but that's all the Blue Devils needed in a 1-0 victory over host Bellport. Pat Wolberg picked up the assisted on Canales' goal. Ari Moskowitz recorded four saves in Huntington's goal.
Kings Park Races Past H-ton
The Huntington boys' cross country team turned in a valiant effort, but the Blue Devils fell to Kings Park on Sunken Meadow State Park's three-mile course, 19-36. (In cross country, the team with the lowest score wins.)
Smoot & Berman Are 5-Over
Jim Smoot and Chris Bergman each shot a five-over-par 41 at the Huntington Crescent Club to help lift the Huntington golf team over visiting West Islip, 6.5-2.5. The Blue Devils are coached by Michael Marinello.
Blue Devil Soccer Falls, 2-0
Half Hollow Hills West notched two first half goals en route to a 2-0 home victory over the Huntington boys' soccer team in Suffolk League IV. The Blue Devils managed seven shots on goal, but couldn't get one past Colts' goalkeeper David Golinowski. Huntington goalie Ari Moskowitz stopped eight shots.
Great Defensive Effort
Ward Melville scored the game's only goal with about 18 remaining in the first half to top the Huntington girls' field hockey team, 1-0. Blue Devil goalie Greta Sarrell made eight saves. Huntington's defense played a great game against one of Suffolk's top teams.
Petryk & Roman Finish 1-2
Suzie Petryk captured first place and Kiara Roman finished second in a personal best time of 22:14 at the Huntington girls' cross country team raced past Riverhead on the three-mile course at Sunken Meadow State Park, 16-43. The victory was the Blue Devils' second in Suffolk League V without a loss.
Sarell Makes Nine Saves
The Huntington and Smithtown East girls' field hockey teams battled to a scoreless stalemate until the Bulls scored with about 17 minutes left in the game to nip the Blue Devils, 1-0. Greta Sarrell recorded nine saves in the net for Huntington.
Huntington's Offense Falters
The Deer Park girls' soccer team took a 1-0 first half lead and scored a second half insurance goal to top Huntington, 2-0. The Blue Devils took four shots on goal. Huntington goalie Hannah Burnett made 10 saves.
Ammirati wins No. 1
The Huntington girls' tennis team earned a most satisfying 7-0 victory over visiting Middle Country. Olivia Ammirati won in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0 to capture No. 1 singles for the Blue Devils.
HHS V-Ball Drops Pair
Host Islip turned back the Huntington girls' volleyball team, 25-15, 25-19, 25-14. The Blue Devils displayed some nice flashes, but the Buccaneers remained in control of all three games.
Commack came to Louis D. Giani Gymnasium and took three straight games, 25-17, 25-23, 25-17 to walk away with a 3-0 victory over Huntington.
Bast & Fehrs Lead HHS
The Huntington golf team defeated Half Hollow Hills West at Cold Spring Hills Country Club, 6-3. Charles Bast shot a three-over-par 40 and teammate Max Fehrs shot a four-over 41 on the front nine. The victory improved Huntington's record to 5-0.
