Ryan Fox on the Mat for NC State

Former Huntington High School wrestling star Ryan Fox is now competing on the North Carolina State wrestling team. Fox grapples in the 165 lb. weight class. He won three matches in last weekend's Hokie Open at Virginia Tech.

Fox went 37-2 as a Blue Devil senior, captaining the team and finishing second in Suffolk County. He went on to Nassau Community College where he "grey-shirted" in the 2010/11 season before placing third last winter n the National Junior College Athletic Assn. national tournament. Fox was also named an Academic All-American during a magnificent season that saw him go 29-5.

The 2010 Huntington alum is a chemical engineering major at NC State. During his grey-shirt year, Fox compiled an 11-1 record while competing unattached in various college tournaments. He captained the NCC team last year.

Fox also owns a second place finish in the College of New Jersey Open and a third place showing in the Wilkes Open. He was undefeated in dual meets last year and undefeated at the Virginia Duals.

Following the 2010 Section XI Championships, Fox finished eighth in the Flo Nationals to claim high school All-American honors.
