Blue Devil Soccer Alumni in
Thrilling Game

It was a game that will long be remembered by those who played in it. About two dozen Huntington High School boys' soccer team alumni returned to Blue Devil Stadium for a friendly contest that quickly became as competitive as a championship game.
When the final whistle blew, the "White" squad had edged the "Gray" team in thrilling battle, 9-7. Peter Delfino (Class of 2008) notched three goals and an assist for the winning team to claim game MVP honors. Matt Scott (Class of 2008) had two goals for the "Gray."
Blue Devil head coach John Pagano called it a "great game" and the 24 players who returned to their alma mater for the day wouldn't disagree, although they probably wished a few more substitutes were available to spell the starters.
This year's contest marked the fifth edition of the alumni game. It has remained popular since Pagano first organized it in an effort to keep graduates involved in the program.
Alumni players arrived early to visit with one another and warm-up on the turf field. When many of them played for Huntington, the Blue Devils played on a natural grass surface. The weather was perfect for the contest, which played out as most games do, albeit with far more scoring than is typically seen in a varsity contest.
