New Trustees Begin Transition to Office

Huntington School Board members-elect Tom DiGiacomo and Xavier Palacios have begun the transition to office. The pair, who won election on Tuesday, May 15 to three year terms commencing in July, began receiving district updates and documents the next day.

Messrs. DiGiacomo and Palacios will attend any scheduled executive sessions and public meetings of the current sitting Huntington School Board between now and when the two new trustees are sworn into office. The pair will replace retiring trustees Elizabeth Black and Kimberly Brown.

Superintendent James W. Polansky plans to meet separately with Messrs. DiGiacomo and Palacios this week to discuss district matters and their transition to office. While the two will attend meetings, they cannot vote on any resolution until they officially take their seats in July.

The new trustees will be sworn into office during the Huntington School Board's reorganization meeting on Thursday, July 5 at 6 p.m. in the Jack Abrams School auditorium.

Trustees serve the community as volunteers. They receive no form of financial compensation or benefits.
