Blue Devils Fall in Suffolk Playoffs

In what amounted to a true defensive struggle, the Huntington High School boys' lacrosse team fell to Eastport-South Manor in the first round of the Suffolk Class B playoffs, 5-2.
The Blue Devils scored two first quarter goals but were stymied the rest of the way, although the team did have its chances. ESM goalie Will Henderson recorded 15 saves, frustrating Huntington's offense and preserving the Sharks' victory.
The two teams battled to a 2-2 tie after one quarter of play before ESM went ahead in the second frame, 3-2. It was a lead the Sharks never relinquished. They went on to score two unanswered second half goals to earn a hard fought victory.
ESM's game plan clearly involved smothering Dan Plant, one of Huntington's main scoring threats. Rutgers bound Plant was suffocated during much of the game.
Thomas Mulligan and Pat Reilly scored Huntington's goals. Jack Cutrone assisted on both of them. T.J. Greenhill was sensational in goal for the Blue Devils, stopping 12 hard shots.
The loss ended Huntington's season.
