Plant Signs with Rutgers for Lacrosse

Dan Plant found what he was looking for. The Huntington High School senior has signed an NCAA national letter of intent to play lacrosse at Rutgers University. The school appears to be a perfect match for the talented teenager.
"I am going to Rutgers because I find the university to be a great fit," Plant said last week. "I have always wanted to attend a large university and with its (Rutgers) camaraderie in sports and strong academics in a great city, I had no doubt in my mind that this is where I wanted to be."
Plant has starred on the Blue Devil football and lacrosse teams and been a leader on both squads. He commands the respect and affection of his teammates and has sometimes been referred to as a "coach on the field" for his willingness to take control of matters.
"Playing lacrosse at the next level is a dream-come-true," Plant said. "I am excited to play under Coach Brecht next year." Brian Brecht is a graduate of Sachem High School. He has 16 years of college lacrosse coaching under his belt.
The 6'2, 205 lb. senior plays midfield for the Blue Devil lacrosse squad coached by Paul McDermott and Eric Triolo. Plant said the highlight of his career came last spring when he scored the game-winning overtime goal in the Suffolk playoff semi-final contest against Comsewogue.
"I look forward to the rest of this season and hopefully making some new memories in the post-season," Plant said.
