Summer Tennis Camp
Registration Begins

Dozens of local youngsters are expected to participate in this summer's Huntington Booster Club co-ed tennis camp, which will be held on the Huntington High School courts.

Boys and girls ranging from kindergarten through eighth grade are eligible to register. The camp will run from June 25-28. Tuition is $125 per player.

Veteran Blue Devil head coach Jamie Fishlow will be back as the program director. The goal of the camp is to improve individual skills and to develop a basic understanding of tennis, including its rules. Tennis rackets will be provided to those needing one for camp participation.

Parents can choose one of the two 90-minute camp sessions which are available: 9 to 10:30 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon. The camp will utilize the six-court complex at the high school. Beginner to intermediate ability levels are welcome to attend. Each camper will receive a t-shirt.

Participants will be grouped according to their age and current level of ability. There will be conditioning drills, skill development stations, contests and games. The camp has been designed to help each participant develop the skills and confidence necessary to become a competitive tennis player. Each day a specific skill or stroke will be emphasized.

Mr. Fishlow is a Huntington High School physical education teacher and head coach of both the boys' and girls' varsity teams. He has coached Suffolk and New York State champions during his long tenure with Blue Devils and has more than two decades of experience working with young people of all ages.

Camp staff will also include current and former Huntington High School varsity tennis players who share Mr. Fishlow's passion and are dedicated to helping young people learn the sport.
