Blue Devil Crew Set for Applebee's Flapjack Fundraiser
Friends of Huntington Crew will hold a flapjack fundraiser at Applebee's of Huntington on Sunday, March 11 from 8-10 a.m. Tickets are priced at an affordable $10 for a sumptuous breakfast.
The Huntington High School crew program is one of the most highly regarded in the Northeast. The Blue Devils have won every conceivable honor and award and manage to put a strong group of rowers on the water every year.
Breakfast will consist of pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, coffee, juice, tea and soda. Applebees of Huntington is located at 360 Walt Whitman Road (Route 110) just south of the Walt Whitman Mall. Call the restaurant at 427-3504 for directions.
Proceeds from the fundraiser will be used for replacement of safety equipment, including cartridges for inflatable life jackets as well as megaphones for the coaching staff.
Friends of the Huntington program are asked to turn out for the March 11 breakfast and "enjoy a short stack for a tall cause," according to an event flyer. All community members are welcome to attend and support the crew team.
"Food will be served by the rowers, who will gladly autograph napkins for their fans," said Marc Jensen, one of Blue Devil crew's longtime coaches. "It should be a fun morning and the funds will help us immensely."
Seating is limited. Contact Jenn Donovan (mjdon@optonline.net) or Marybeth Caputo (caputo5outagain@aol.com) to either reserve a ticket or for more information.
