Huntington Booster Club Sponsoring Boys' Basketball Camp
The Huntington Booster Club is sponsoring a summer boys' basketball camp at Huntington High School for students entering grades 3-8. Sessions will July 9-12 from 9 a.m. to noon each day. The registration fee is $125.
The camp will be directed by Tim Madden, the assistant coach for the Blue Devil varsity boys' basketball team. Players will be grouped by age and ability and will participate in daily conditioning drills, skill development stations, contests and games. The program is focused on helping players build the necessary skills and confidence to be a competitive basketball player.
Mr. Madden teaches physical education at J. Taylor Finley Middle School and has coached at the middle school, junior varsity and varsity levels. He served as Huntington's JV boys' basketball coach for five years, winning coach-of-the-year honors twice and has been assistant varsity coach for the past four years.
The camp registration fee includes a camp tee-shirt. Participants are asked to bring a basketball with them to the camp along with a snack and drink each day. Camp sessions will concentrate on both technical and tactical training and serve as an opportunity for new and current players to improve their game.
