Wilson Jolly at Fordham's
Grinch Games

Ron Wilson is a jolly sort of fellow so it was funny to see him coaching the Blue Devil boys' winter track and field team at the Grinch Games at Fordham University.
Huntington's hurdlers shined in The Bronx as senior Dan McQuade ran a strong race in the varsity section, taking second in 8.5 seconds, a personal best. The teenager also earned a silver medal in the high jump with a leap of 5'5.
Eighth grader Exayvian Crowell continues to improve every time he steps out on the track. The budding star ran a personal best of 10.04 to place second. "He should have won, but had trouble at the start coming out of the blocks," Wilson said. "He was the last one to break from the starting line, but once he broke, he was off and running down the other hurdlers."
In other action:
• Crowell placed fifth in the freshman section of the 200m dash in 26.2.
• Freshman Kyle Davis placed second in the 200m dash in 26.1.
• Giancarlos Puello placed third in the 400m dash in 59.6.
• Joshua Watkins placed second in the sophomore section of the 200m dash in 25.2 and first in the high jump with a leap of 5'7.
"Our frosh/soph 4 x 400m relay team of Watkins, Puello, Davis and Markhenry Sanon ran an awesome relay," Wilson said. "Henry led out and was in third by the time he handed off to Davis. Davis made up ground and put his team in first, but when handing off the baton to Watkins, the baton dropped. Watkins picked it up quickly and started running, but his team was now back in third place. He closed on one of the other runners on his final lap handing the baton off to Puello, who just blew by the other two runners as if they were standing still." Peullo kept the lead and crossed the line first, earning members of the relay team gold medals.
