A Tradition of Excellence since 1657

It's all Johnson at the Armory

Tyriek Johnson is humming right along. The Huntington High School senior finished first in the 55m high hurdles in 7.66 seconds at the North Short Invitational at the Armory in Manhattan and was second in the long jump with a leap of 21'2.

Blue Devil sophomore Joshua Watkins ran a personal best in the 300m dash with an effort that timed out at 39.21 seconds. In the 1000m run, Ryan Ackermann and Mike Garing each enjoyed good races, with Ackerman crossing the finish line in 2:44 and Garing gliding across in 2:48. Speedy freshmen Kyle Davis improved in the 55m dash, recording a time of 7.13.

"We decided to stretch seventh grader Lawrence Leake out in the 600m dash and he ran a great race, finishing in 1:46," said Ron Wilson, Huntington's head coach. "After he ran the race, he told us he's been sick. He didn't look sick out there and for a seventh grader to run 1:46, that's not bad."
