NYS Testing Schedule Requires School Calendar Changes
A revised State Education Department testing schedule released in late 2011 is requiring several changes to the current Huntington School District calendar. Parents have been informed of the changes and were asked to review the new testing schedule and incorporate it into their family plans.
The revised schedule provides for the following:
• The English Language Arts tests for grades 3-8 will be given Tuesday, April 17 through Thursday, April 19.
• The math tests for grades 3-8 will be given Wednesday, April 25 through Friday, April 27.
• The science tests for grades four and eight will be given in two parts: The performance segment will be given Tuesday, May 29 through Friday, June 1 while the written portion will be given Monday, June 4.
"It is suggested that you review the revisions and make the necessary changes to your home calendars," Superintendent James W. Polansky wrote to parents. For more information about the exams, parents should contact their child's school principal.
