Roy Jimenez has been hired to coach the Huntington High School junior varsity girls' basketball team. He earned an associate's degree in liberal arts from Suffolk County Community College in 2009. The new Blue Devil staff member has coached the AAU Silver Knights since 2010.
New Spring Crew Coach
Vincent Morello has been appointed to work as an assistant coach of the Huntington High School spring crew team. He holds a BA degree in psychology from NYU, graduating in 2011 with a minor in child and adolescent mental health.
Mr. Morello competed on the St. Anthony's High School team, serving as the Friars' captain. He earned his diploma at the school in 2007.
H-ton Football Final Playoff Stats
The Huntington High School football team's season ended with a 41-14 playoff game loss to eventual Suffolk champion Sayville. The Blue Devils finished the season with a 7-3 mark under head coach Steve Muller.
Against Sayville, Huntington's junior quarterback Ben Kocis completed 13-of-29 passes for 209 yards, including a touchdown to toss to Christian Jamison. Levar Butts rushed 12 times for 88 yards. Troy Greene picked up 33 yards on six carries. Jamison made eight catches for 129 yards. Tyler Greenhill had three receptions for 60 yards.
Butts led the defense with 11 tackles (two for a loss), two assists and a sack. Devon Nelson had seven tackles and an assist and John Mallouk added five tackles, an assist and a sack. Troy Greene had five tackles (two for a loss), an assist and a sack. Tyler Greenhill had five tackles (one for a loss) and a blocked kick. Christian Jamison had five tackles. Josh Long made five tackles.
Nick Arleo, Pat Reilly, Johnnie Graham and Greenhill each made tackles on kicks. Reilly was also two-for-two on extra-point kicks.
Blue Devils Ranked
The Blue Devil football team was listed in the honorable mention category of the latest New York State Sportswriters' Assn. Class A football rankings. The distinction puts Huntington among the top 53 teams in the entire state in their enrollment classification.
