Brianne Bennett Named to
All-Eastern Choir

Brianne Bennett is indefatigable. The Huntington High School senior never tires of singing and performing and she’s building an impressive resume. The teenager was recently accepted into the prestigious All-Eastern mixed choir, which includes exceptional young vocalists from Maine to Washington, DC.
“It’s such an honor to be in such an advanced choir like All-Eastern,” Ms. Bennett said. “I’m so happy to be representing Huntington High School at the festival.” The All-Eastern honors ensembles (orchestra, band and chorus) generally comprise the best musicians from the northeastern states.
“This is a huge honor,” said Veronica Mainville, Huntington High School’s chorale director. “The ensembles consist of students from several states along the east coast and they must have been accepted into All-State to be considered for membership. The Huntington music department is so proud of her!” The All-Eastern ensembles will rehearse and perform in April in Hartford, Connecticut.
Ms. Bennett is a member of the All-State women’s choir and her best friend, fellow Huntington High School senior Josh Stickell was selected for the All-State mixed choir.
“It’s such an amazing feeling moving up in the music world, knowing that I’m good enough to be in a choir with the best singers in the state and now the best singers in the northeast,” Ms. Bennett said. The teenager has been a member of the All-County chorus for the past five years.
Ms. Bennett has applied to SUNY Potsdam, SUNY Fredonia, the College of St. Rose and Buffalo State University. Her top choice is Potsdam. She plans to major in music education and pursue a career as a high school chorus teacher. Should the teenager attend Potsdam, she will join several Huntington High School music teachers who have studied at that college, including Mrs. Mainville, band director Jason Giachetti and orchestra director Lisa Leonardi.
