Huntington's Class of 2012
by the Numbers

Huntington High School's Class of 2012 totaled 260 graduating seniors. They are headed off in many different directions, including dozens of two-year colleges and four-year universities, vocational and technical schools and "gap" year travel and career exploration.
Among the graduating class, 40 percent earned a Regents diploma, 27 percent garnered an advanced Regents diploma, 18 percent qualified for an advanced Regents diploma with honors, two percent earned a Regents diploma with honors, seven percent were awarded a local diploma, five percent qualified for an IEP diploma and one percent were granted a general equivalency diploma.
"I have had the privilege of coming to know so many fine young adult members of Huntington's class of 2012," Superintendent James W. Polansky said. "I have no doubt that they are destined for continued success as they enter the next stage of their academic lives and beyond."
Most members of the Class of 2012 are headed off to college. Among the graduates, 61 percent will be attending four year colleges, 30 percent are destined for two-year colleges and another seven percent will pursue career programs, take a "gap year" before beginning college studies or go immediately into the labor force. Two percent of grads who are special education students will return to Huntington High School to gain additional credits in order to qualify for a more advanced diploma or for further study in special education programs.
