Passes Away
Retired Huntington School District English teacher Jacqueline P. Brush passed away on April 17. She was 74 and residing in Manhattan.
Mrs. Brush came to Huntington in January 1977 as a long-term substitute teacher. She continued filling in for tenured faculty members until becoming a full-time permanent English teacher in September 1982.
Over the years, Mrs. Brush taught at Huntington High School and J. Taylor Finley Junior High School, retiring in June 1993. She earned undergraduate and graduate degrees at Hofstra University.
The retired teacher is survived by her husband, Douglas and her three children and their spouses. Son Douglas, Jr. predeceased Mrs. Brush. Friends visited at O.B. Davis Funeral Home in Port Jefferson. A funeral mass was offered at St. Gerard Majella Church in Port Jefferson Station. Interment followed at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Coram.
Donations in Mrs. Brush's memory may be made to Double H Ranch, 97 Hidden Valley Rd., Lake Luzerne, NY, 12846. The Ranch is dedicated to "providing specialized programs and year-round support for children and their families dealing with life-threatening illnesses," according to the organization's website.
