Huntington School District Absentee Ballot Applications are Available

Applications for absentee ballots for the Tuesday, May 15 budget vote and trustee election are available to voting age residents of the Huntington School District from District Clerk Elizabeth Troffa during regular school hours. The applications are also available on the district's website at www.hufsd.edu.

To access the absentee ballot application online, go to the district website and click on the tab for "Resources" and then on "District Clerk & Records Office" and finally on "Forms & Files."

Completed applications must be received by the district clerk at least seven days before the election if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter or the day before the election if the ballot is to be delivered personally. Absentee ballots must be received by the district clerk no later than 5 p.m. on May 15.

A list of persons to whom absentee ballots have been issued will be available for inspection by qualified school district voters in the district clerk's office beginning Thursday, May 10 between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. on weekdays through May 15.

Upon examination of such list, any qualified voter may file a written challenge of the qualifications as a voter of anyone whose name appears on such list, stating the reasons for such challenge. Any such written challenge shall be transmitted by the district clerk or a designee of the Huntington School Board to the inspectors of the May 15 election.

In the May 2011 school district vote, 3,719 residents cast ballots, including 83 via absentee ballot.
