Huntington School Briefs
Three Huntington High School seniors participated in a tour of the newly renovated Normandy Manor and were interviewed by News 12 during a television piece on the opening of a restoration design show house at the caretaker's house for the former Vanderbilt estate in Centerport.
Huntington seniors Nitika Shah, Marie Clifford and Alexandra Martinolich are each involved in art and fashion and have a love of history. "Marie actually wants to be a museum curator, so she was especially interested in internship opportunities," said Joan R. Fretz, district director of fine and performing arts. "The young ladies enjoyed the tour." The News 12 interview with the trio ran throughout the day on Monday of this week.
A group of 18 standout Long Island landscape architects, artisans and designers transformed Normandy Manor for the show. This marks the first time the house is accessible to the public. The show is open to the public through October 16.
The Huntington teenagers said that the exterior of the house is still in the original style. "The inside of the house was completed renovated, with a different interior designer doing the decorating," Ms. Fretz said. "So, the inside of the house was very modern. The girls had an opportunity to talk about their studies at Huntington High School. They are very articulate.
