Finley Fun Run-Walk Set for Oct. 22

The J. Taylor Finley Middle School PTA has organized its first annual one mile "fun run" and 5K walk on Saturday, October 22 at 9 a.m. on the Huntington High School track.

Everyone is invited to participate in the event in one way or another. Registration is ongoing in the school's guidance office for the seventh grade run, an eighth grade run and one for teachers and paraprofessional staff members. The 5K walk is open to everyone.

The Finley fun run-walk is expected to conclude by 11 a.m. For more information or to volunteer to help make everything run smoothly, contact Finley PTA President Alice Marie Rorke at alicemarierorke@aol.com.

"The idea for the fun run-walk came as part of the PTA's health and wellness initiative for all the kids at Finley this year," Mrs. Rorke said. "We want to promote a sense of community where everyone, from students to teachers and parents can participate and embrace a healthy lifestyle. It's going to be a lot of fun!"

October 22 is Homecoming Day at Huntington High School. The festivities will include a noon parade through Huntington village and down New York Avenue. The 2 p.m. football game will see the Blue Devils battling visiting Islip.
